Tom Morello Launches New Album With “Date Night”

Tom Morello’s seventh solo album arrives this fall. Everyone Gets Everything They Want is out September 25 on Mom + Pop Music, and today, the Rage Against the Machine guitarist previewed the record with “Date Night,” a ballad based on the true story of three Dutch teenagers who spied on, captured, and assassinated Nazis during World War II. “I make anti-racist songs for anti-racists. I make anti-fascist songs for anti-fascists,” Morello said in a press statement. “‘Date Night’ is really a ‘which side are you on?’ song. If any of that offends you, do the math.” “Date Night” follows the release of “Adjourn It” back in May, which Morello made with his son, Roman, and Serj Tankian. The album also features Kneecap and Ohio rockers Beartooth. It’s his first proper solo effort since 2021’s The Atlas Underground Flood.

Morello will support Everyone Gets Everything They Want with a few tour dates over the coming months. In October, he’ll headline the inaugural edition of his own Power to the People Festival in Washington, D.C.; the wider lineup includes Dave Matthews, Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, Joan Baez, Public Enemy, Killer Mike, and Brittany Howard. Then, in March 2027, he’ll play four shows across Canada, beginning in Medicine Hat, Alberta and concluding in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
